Managing seat categories and channel allocations for specific departures

This article explains how to reassign seat categories and distribution channels for a specific departure.

There are instances where seats previously reserved for a specific sales channel remain unsold. In such cases, you can reallocate them to a different channel—for example, moving partner-allocated seats back to "Direct Sales" to maximise booking potential.

Similarly, you can adjust seat categories for a single departure. This is particularly useful for tactical pricing; if premium seats are not selling, you can reassign them to a lower-priced category to ensure the departure reaches full capacity.

Before proceeding, please ensure the following:

• The product is configured with an active seating chart.

• Events have been successfully synchronised with Seats.io.

• The seat icon for the specific departure is green, indicating the chart is active.

There are two primary features within the Manifest page used to manage these real-time adjustments:

Identifying unassigned seats: The Manifest clearly flags any bookings where seats have not yet been allocated, allowing for quick resolution.

Seating chart visualisation: You can open a visual representation of the entire seating chart to see a real-time "map" of occupancy.

Channel visualisation: You can toggle the view to show specific Channels (e.g., seats blocked for VIPs or specific partners). For example, you can easily verify if the first row has been successfully reserved for VIP ticket holders.

Editing seats and categories

If operational needs change, you can edit the seat categories directly from the seating chart interface.

1. Navigate to the Prebookings page (Operations > Next Departures), locate the departure and click on it to access the Manifest.

   

2. Click the channel icon.

   

3. On the seating map, select the specific seats you wish to reallocate.

   

4. Once selected, choose the target Channel from the menu on the left side of the screen.

   

5. Click Apply Changes in the top-right corner and close the window.

   

   

1. Navigate to the Prebookings page (Operations > Next Departures), locate the departure and click on it to access the Manifest.

   

2. Click the category icon.

   

3. Select the seats on the map that require a category change.

   

4. Once the seats are highlighted, select the New Category from the available options.

   

5. Click Apply Changes and close the window.
