What does it mean?
Resource types allow you to categorise and organise the different resources your business relies on — such as drivers, tour guides, vehicles, bikes, or equipment. By grouping resources into types, you can streamline scheduling, improve visibility across your operations, and ensure the right resources are assigned to the right services.
This article walks you through how to create a new resource type so you can tailor resource management to suit your specific operational needs.
What should I do?
To create a new resource type:
Go to Operations > Resource Management and click the Create type link.
Enter a descriptive name for the resource type. Think of a resource type as a group — a way to organise your resources into meaningful categories (e.g. "Drivers", "Vehicles", "Equipment").
Select an icon to help you easily identify the resource type at a glance.
Choose a colour to visually distinguish it from other types.
Once created, the new resource type will appear on the main Resource Management page.
It will also become available in the Type tab when you create a new resource, allowing you to assign each resource to the appropriate type.
You can edit or delete a resource type at any time. From the Resource Management page, select the resource type and then you can update its name, icon, or colour as needed. If a type is no longer required, you can remove it — just remember that any resources currently assigned to that type must be reassigned first.
Good to know
Plan your categories first. Before creating resource types, consider how your business organises its operations. Well-defined types make it easier to filter, search, and report on your resources later.
Use clear, consistent naming. Choose names that your whole team will understand — this helps avoid confusion when assigning resources to bookings or schedules.
Icons and colours matter. Selecting distinct icons and colours for each type makes it much faster to scan and identify resources at a glance, especially when managing a large number of them.
