Where do I find it?

What does it mean?

What is Seats.io?

Seats.io is a specialised seating chart provider that integrates with Palisis. It allows you to create interactive, visual floor plans so that your customers can select specific seats in real-time during the booking process.

What does it mean?

In Seats.io, every individual departure (event) requires a base template to function. When you assign a seating chart to a Palisis departure for the first time, the system looks for a "Default Template" to copy. If this template hasn't been named correctly in Seats.io, Palisis cannot sync the data, resulting in the "Default template not found" alert. Renaming the template establishes the necessary link between the two platforms.

What should I do?

  1. Navigate to the Prebookings page (Operations > Next Departures).

  2. Locate the departure and click the red seating icon.

  3. Accept and assign the appropriate seating chart.

Important Note: Resolving the ‘Default template is not found’ Alert

The first time you attempt this, an alert stating "Default template is not found" may appear. To resolve this:

  • Copy the specific template name provided in the Palisis alert.

  • Log in to your Seats.io dashboard.

  • Rename the corresponding event/template in Seats.io to match the name you just copied.

Once the names match, the alert will disappear, and you can proceed with assigning seating charts to all future departures without interruption.

Verification

Once the event has been successfully created and synced in Seats.io, the seat assignment icon in Palisis will turn green. This indicates that the departure is now live and seats are ready for allocation.

After assigning a chart to a departure, you can adjust orphan seat rules for that departure in the Manifest. For details, see the article Configuring orphan seat prevention.

Important: Pre-configure events in Seats.io

To ensure a seamless booking experience, all events must be created in Seats.io before you begin accepting reservations. This means seat assignments must be configured for every departure prior to its launch.

If a departure is live without a linked Seats.io event, bookings will be processed as "standard" tickets without any seat selection. Note: Seats cannot be retroactively assigned to a booking through the system once the transaction is complete.

Disconnecting seating charts

To disconnect a seating chart from a departure, go to the specific departure, click the green icon, enter the product name (case sensitive), and confirm.

You can then reassign the departure to a different seating chart.

Good to know

Pending bookings and "Held" seats

When a customer starts a booking the system places a temporary hold on those seats.

  • If the booking is not completed within the timeout period (typically 45 minutes), the seats are automatically released back into general inventory.

  • This prevents "double-booking" while a customer is entering their payment details.

  • If you try to book the best seats but enough bookings without seat selection fill the seating, you cannot book the best seats. However, you can select seats on the chart or book without seat selection.

Seat changes and category consistency

You can reassign a customer to a different seat via the Backoffice Manifest; however, the new seat must belong to the same price category as the original booking.

  • If you wish to move a customer to a higher-priced category (e.g., from Lateral to VIP), you must handle the price difference separately or perform a refund and re-booking to maintain financial integrity.
