What does it mean?
According to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which is the toughest privacy and security law in the world, organizations must collect and process only as much data as absolutely necessary for the purposes specified and they are not allowed to store personal data forever, only as long as necessary for the specified purpose.
Palisis has implemented a programmed process in order to provide our customers with the ability and proper tools to be compliant with the GDPR law.
Basically, all the passenger data belonging to bookings older than a certain date (configured in the system) can be anonymized, which means that you will keep all the passenger related data from that time in the past until now, although the other data relating to the booking is kept (revenue, location, sales user, etc.). There is a new setting in the backoffice to set up the process.
For example, if you set the time range at 1 month, it means that you want to keep the bookings made up to 1 month ago with the all passenger data, and you want to delete the passenger data of bookings made before 1 month ago.
There is a complex background action running continuously for that, and we have implemented the process to work in batches in order to do it more efficiently. It anonymizes the data of a range of bookings per day, where each of those batches are composed of bookings made during one week. Here you can find a picture where we illustrate the procedure of automatic anonymization of passenger data for bookings older than 1 year:
Please, note that the process can’t be reversed.
What should I do?
Please, contact the Palisis support department by writing to support@palisis.com to enable this feature informing about the time range you would like to set up in your account. Please note that all your passenger data belonging to bookings older than that date, will be anonymized and this cannot be reverted.
Once this feature is enabled, then you should be able to see an "Anonimize" action when you click on a Booking and then go to the Booking actions:
