What does it mean?

This article provides a step-by-step guide to resolving 404 errors encountered when downloading Palisis Excel reports (such as Marketpay settlements) in Microsoft Edge.

What is the cause of this error?

When you attempt to download Excel files from the Palisis backoffice using Microsoft Edge, the browser's default settings may attempt to preview the file online using Microsoft Office Online (via view.officeapps.live.com). However, because Palisis reports are served via secure, temporary Amazon S3 URLs, Microsoft's online viewer is unable to access them, resulting in a 404 - File Not Found error page. The PDF versions of the reports continue to work because they do not rely on the Office Online previewer.

Why should you disable this setting?

  • Interruption-free workflows: Ensures you can download critical reports (like Marketpay settlements) without blocking monthly financial closings.
  • Full Excel capabilities: Files are downloaded directly to your computer, allowing you to open them in your local Excel application with all formulas and formatting intact.
  • Security compliance: Avoids exposing temporary, secure S3 URLs to public online Office preview tools.

What should I do?

To resolve this, you must instruct Microsoft Edge to download Office files directly instead of attempting to open them in the browser:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge, click the Settings and more button (three horizontal dots ...) in the top-right corner. Select Settings from the dropdown menu.

  3. Look for the option labelled "Open Office files in the browser". Toggle this setting to the OFF position.

Next steps: Close all Microsoft Edge windows and reopen Edge for the change to take effect. You should now be able to download Palisis Excel reports directly without encountering the 404 error.
