What does it mean?

The Maximum presale time controls how far in advance a specific price plan can be sold before the service, event, tour, or product date. By default, there is no limit, which means customers and agents can sell that price plan as far ahead as availability allows.

Use this setting when you want to limit early bookings for operational, commercial, or planning reasons. For example, you may only want to sell a seasonal tour a few weeks in advance, keep last-minute products available only close to departure, or avoid selling a price plan before schedules, supplier costs, or availability are confirmed.

The benefit is that you stay in control of when each price plan becomes available for sale, reduce operational risk, and avoid bookings being created too early.

What should I do?

Follow these steps to configure the maximum presale time for a price plan:

  1. Go to Prices > Products & Services and click Edit price on the affected product.

  3. Open the Attributes tab and find the field Maximum presale time

  4. In the first field, enter a number from 1 to 10.

  5. In the second field, select the unit: minutes, hours, days, weeks, or years.

  6. Save your changes.

Once configured, the price plan can only be sold within that maximum presale window. For example, if you set it to 2 weeks, that price plan cannot be sold more than two weeks before the product date.

Operational examples:

  • 10 minutes: useful for very last-minute products where sales should only open shortly before departure or entry.

  • 6 hours: useful when you need same-day sales but want to avoid bookings too far in advance.

  • 3 days: useful when the operations team needs a short planning window for staffing, vehicles, guides, or stock.

  • 4 weeks: useful for seasonal products where schedules or supplier availability are confirmed monthly.

  • 1 year: useful when you want to allow long-term planning but still prevent bookings too far into the future.

Good to know

  • The setting is configured per price plan. If different price plans need different sales windows, configure each one separately.

  • If you leave the field empty, no maximum presale limit is applied and the price plan can be sold as far in advance as availability allows.

  • This setting limits how early the price plan can be sold. It does not replace capacity, schedule, allotment, or close-out settings.

  • If sales are unexpectedly unavailable, check this setting together with product availability, schedule dates, capacity, sales channel configuration, and any other booking restrictions.

FAQs

Does the maximum presale time affect all sales channels?

Yes. The setting belongs to the price plan, so it applies wherever that price plan is sold, including online sales, back-office sales, and partner or agent sales channels, as long as they use the same price plan.

What happens when the maximum presale limit is reached?

The price plan is not available for sale outside the configured presale window. For example, if the maximum presale time is set to 3 days, customers and agents cannot sell that price plan more than 3 days before the product date.

Can I use different presale limits for different price plans?

Yes. The setting is configured per price plan. This means one price plan can allow sales up to 10 weeks in advance, while another price plan for the same product can allow sales only 2 days in advance.
