What does it mean?
In the Palisis system, accounts typically use a single PDF template for all products. This means that, at a system level, it is not possible to assign a different PDF layout to individual products.
Within this shared PDF template, you can choose whether to display a code as plain text or as an image (which is currently generated as a QR code). However, the system does not currently support a per-product setting to switch between different barcode formats (such as QR vs Code 128) within that single PDF.
If your operation requires different products to display different barcode formats (e.g., one product requiring a QR code and another requiring a Code 128 barcode or an alphanumeric code), you can implement the workaround described below using device-specific layouts.
What should I do?
While the PDF template is unique for the whole account, Device Ticket Layouts offer more flexibility. You can assign different ticket layouts to specific prices or products when printing directly from a Palisis device.
To achieve different barcode formats per product, follow these steps:
-
Configure multiple layouts: Create different ticket layouts in your back office (e.g., one designed with a QR code and another with a Code 128 barcode). For detailed instructions on setting up these ticket layouts, please refer to our support article: How to configure the Ticket/Receipt/Voucher Layout (Device)
Barcode block: type QR_CODE
Barcode block: type CODE_128
Text block:
Receipt-numberplaceholder
-
Assign to products: Assign these specific layouts to the corresponding products or price points. For detailed instructions, please refer to this article: How to set up "Prices"
Print via device: When a customer presents their initial booking, use a Palisis device to redeem the voucher and issue the ticket. The device will use the specific layout assigned to that product, allowing you to print the required QR, barcode, or alphanumeric format. For more information on how to redeem a voucher, refer to this article: How to redeem vouchers
Good to know
Consistency: Ensure that all devices are running the same updated version of the Palisis App to ensure layout features (like font types and barcode rendering) operate seamlessly across your fleet.
Testing: We recommend testing any new layout in a test environment before implementing it in your live operation to ensure the barcodes are correctly generated and scannable.
FAQs

➕ What barcode formats are supported on device layouts?
Device layouts support various blocks, including QR codes, standard barcodes (Code 128), and alphanumeric external references.
