What does it mean?
Klarna is a "Buy Now, Pay Later" (BNPL) service that allows your customers to shop online or in-store and split their purchase into interest-free instalments or pay the full amount 30 days later.
Palisis Marketpay customers can now use Klarna as a payment option via Adyen on the Webshop and Box Office. This article will guide you through the steps to enable Klarna for your store, outline the requirements, and provide troubleshooting tips.
Prerequisites
You must be using Palisis Marketpay with Adyen as your payment provider.
Palisis Support or your account manager must add Klarna to your store.
What should I do?
This is a step-by-step guide to enable Klarna as a payment method in Palisis Marketpay.
Request Klarna activation
Contact Palisis Support or your account manager to request Klarna activation for your store. Klarna will not appear as a payment option until it is enabled for your specific customer account.
Klarna sends payment receipts digitally to the customer.
How does it look on the checkout
On the checkout page, customers can choose Klarna as their payment method.
Next, they select their payment method. Typically, they see three options:
-
Pay over time: This option is for spreading the cost over a longer period. It actually comes in two different "flavors" depending on your customer’s region:
Pay in 3 (or 4): They pay the total in 3 or 4 equal chunks. The first payment is taken at checkout; the rest are taken automatically every 2 weeks or every 30 days.
Financing (monthly payments): For larger purchases, customer’s can spread the cost over 6 to 36 months. Klarna often includes interest (APR) for this payment option.
Pay later (in 30 days): Customers receive the item first and pay the full balance a month later.
Klarna runs a "soft" credit check and approves the transaction within seconds.
At the end, your customers must identify themselves by providing their phone number.

Good to know
Currently, this payment method is available only for online payments on Box Office and Webshop and requires a request to our Support team. Klarna applies a blended fee structure, depending on the payment method and the country, as detailed in the Adyen documentation.
- Klarna is not a multi-market payment method. It means that Spanish customers purchase from Spanish merchants in EUR, while Swedish customers purchase from Swedish merchants in SEK. Both the shopper and the merchant must be based in the same country and use the same currency.
