How to set up the up-selling and cross-selling functionality

What does it mean?

Upselling and cross-selling are highly effective sales techniques designed to enhance revenue generation and elevate customer satisfaction.

Upselling involves encouraging customers to opt for a higher-value product or service, such as upgrading from a standard tour to a deluxe package. Conversely, cross-selling focuses on recommending complementary products or services, for instance, suggesting a museum visit to accompany a city tour. Both strategies not only contribute to increased revenue but also provide customers with a more tailored and comprehensive experience.

This valuable functionality is available across both the Palisis webshop and our devices. Within this article, we will provide detailed instructions on how to configure and implement these features effectively.

 

What should I do?

To set up an upsell or cross-sell option, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Products & Services > Prices.
  2. Click on the "Edit prices" button for the specific price plan for which you wish to create an upsell or cross-sell option.

3. Press the "Edit prices" button again and proceed to the "Upsell / Cross-sell" tab.

4. Select the price you wish to offer as an upsell or cross-sell option.

5. After pressing the "plus" button, the option will be added as an upsell option in order 1. This means it will be the first option presented to the customer for up-selling the original product. You can, of course, add more than one upsell option by repeating this process and sorting the order of the options as desired.

6. To create a cross-sell option, repeat the process and then toggle the option to configure it as a cross-sell.

For example, if you have a “Hop-on-Hop-off” product with two prices, one for 24 hours and another for 48 hours, you can create an upsell option for the 24-hour ticket and offer your customers the 48-hour ticket before completing the booking.

If you want to offer a cross-sell option, follow the same steps and select the "is cross-sell" setting.

You can offer up to 10 options for the same price, including up-selling and cross-selling options.

In our example, the checkout page, when the user selects the 24-hour ticket, would look like this:

Here, the customer could change the 48 hours ticket by clicking on the “+Change” button:

Or she/he could add the “Ronda tour” to the basket by clicking on the “+Add” button:

For displaying upsell and cross-sell options on a Palisis device, no special configuration is required, provided you are using Palisis app version 4.64.10 or higher.
