In some cases it can happen that the Windows Mobile Device Center program doesn't start or the application gets stuck. The problem occurs on Windows 7 and Windows 10, as the current version of the program is only available for Windows Vista. This article will provide you with a possible solution for this problem.
Solution
Open the services management. To do this, click on the Windows Start Symbol and search for “Services”. Then open Services by clicking on it.
In the list you will find the Service “Windows Mobile 2003-based device connectivity”. This service hasn’t started, which led to the problem in the first place.
Get the Service running by right-clicking on it and then on “Properties”.
Once in Properties, switch to “Log on” by clicking on it and change to: “Local system account”.
When you confirm by clicking on OK, you can start the service again.
Finally, you have to activate the compatibility mode. To do this, right-click on the Windows Mobile Device Symbol and click on properties.
Go to “Compatibility” and set a tick for “Run this program in compatibility mode for”. Then choose “Windows 7” in the drop-down menu.
After confirming by clicking on OK you have to restart your computer and you will be able to start the Windows Mobile Device Center normally.
