It's the end of the high season, and you finally have some time to take your foot off the pedal. For many of our customers, this is the time where they can take a breather. But in order to start the next main season properly, we have important advice for you before you leave for your well-deserved vacation.
Now is the time to maintain and check the functionality of your Palisis devices. Like every piece of machinery, a well-maintained device is much less likely to fail! A broken machine easily results in repair costs and lost street sales during the high season.
Before we start, we should do a short recap of the different device types:
STM-7700 Pidion 1500
Pidion 1530
All set? Let's go:
The first step we recommend is to check each and every device for its functionality. If it doesn't work correctly or the setup seems faulty, please contact our support team (support@palisis.com). We will do a thorough assessment of the problem and if necessary assist you during the repair process.
Here's the checklist we encourage you to follow :
• Does the printer work? Test: Can you print tickets without issues?
• Does the scanner work? Test: Can you scan your own tickets and vouchers?
• Does the device have a proper internet connection? Test: Do you see a ticket in your back office a few seconds after you booked it?
• Does the screen work correctly? Test: Can you use the touch screen in all corners?
• Do the buttons work? Test: Set a password for a user using all buttons and enter the code.
• For those of you who have credit card usage: Does the credit card functionality work? Test: Be sure that the device is online and perform a credit card booking and cancellation.
If your devices pass these checks, you will be lining yourself up for a successful spring beginning
... and that's what we all want, right?
Another question you might ask yourself is how you should store them? Well, we suggest that before you store the devices in a closet for a longer time, you should clean them thoroughly with a soft wipe and some cleaning alcohol. Please don't use water as this can destroy the devices. Only use the cloth and dip it in alcohol. Then clean the whole device with it. This should do the trick. You might be amazed at how much this can improve the overall look of your device.
After that, we suggest you put the devices away in a closet. Please make sure you keep them in a place with normal room temperature (18 to 22 degrees) and also not too humid.
For all the devices that don't have a pin pad attached (credit card device), we suggest to take out the battery and store it separately from the devices. I will explain in the next section why you should leave the battery inside all the devices with a pin pad.
Last, but not least: If you have Pidion devices with a pin pad (credit card device) it is important that you recharge the device every 2-3 months to ensure that their main batteries are never completely drained.
But why is that?
The pin pad has vital information regarding your merchant (your credit card account) stored on it. Now you might not know this, but many modern devices need a small electrical current to store data. The same goes for the pin pads; if the batteries run completely dry the stored information gets lost! Although the pad has a small backup battery, it alone cannot store this information for longer than 2 months without external power. So if you store a device without charging the battery, it will slowly but surely use up the backup battery inside the pad, resulting in data loss. The only way to fix this is a costly physical repair process (Battery change & setup).
Please make sure you take good care of your devices and if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact us at:
